the Danish Arts Foundations three year work scholarship Jeannette
Ehlers, feature with the solo exhibition 'The Invisible Empire' at ROHDE
CONTEMPORARY in Copenhagen. When the
galleries in downtown Copenhagen open their doors for the big joint
opening on Friday 13 August, ROHDE CONTEMPORARY will feature the solo
exhibition 'The Invisible Empire’ by one of todays most notable young
Danish artists Jeannette Ehlers. Last honoured in the spring of 2010
when she received the Danish Arts Foundations three year work
scholarship."Jeannette
Ehlers most recent works revolve around the Danish slave trade in
colonial times. With the upcoming solo exhibition 'The Invisible Empire'
at ROHDE CONTEMPORARY, Jeannette Ehlers reflects upon todays slave
trade - also known as 'human trafficking'. The artist's own ethnicity to
the former Danish colonies in Danish West Indies, only adds extra
strength to Jeannette Ehlers works", said gallery Managing Director,
Camilla Rohde Madsen. At the
international Video Art Fair LOOP in Barcelona, ROHDE CONTEMPORARY also
featured video works by Jeannette Ehlers, titled 'Black Magic at The
White House' and 'Three Steps of Story'. Completed sales of works during
the art fair to several international art collections, only affirm the
very high artistic quality that Jeannette Ehlers represents. The exhibition opens at ROHDE CONTEMPORARY in
St. Kongensgade 110 on Friday 13 August from 5 - 7pm.
Normal gallery
opening hours are Tuesday-Friday 12 - 5pm and 12 - 3 pm on Saturdays.
Artist talk event with Jeannette Ehlers is on Saturday 28 August at 1pm.
